  • First go into the Start menu then click Run. Type "cmd", without quotes. Then click Ok or Open to open the command prompt window. Then type "IPCONFIG" and hit the Enter key. Look to the right of the words IP Address: if it says 169.x.x.x, "x" meaning whatever number you see.
  • You need to flush the DNS Resolver Cache. In this same window type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit Enter. It should come back with a message saying "Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache." Once that is done close the command prompt window and we'll move on to resetting the Winsock files.
  • Go into the Start menu then, Run and type in "regedit" and hit Enter or click OK. Now in the regedit window. Click on the plus symbol next to.

    3. CurrentControlSet
    4. Services

  • Then Right click on WinSock and click the Export option. The Export Registery File will open.
  • Choose My Documents for the location to save the file to. And make sure it is named Winsock.reg .
  • Now Right click and delete Winsock. Click Yes at the confirm window.
  • Then Right click on WinSock2 and click the Export option. The Export Registery File will open.
  • Choose My Documents for the location to save the file to. And make sure it is named Winsock2.reg .
  • Now Right click and delete Winsock2. Click Yes at the confirm window.
  • Now Restart the system.
  • Resetting the TCP/IP Stack.
    When you are at the desktop. Click Start > Control Panel.
    Open Network and Internet Connections. Then network connections.
    Once you see the Local Area Connection or DialUp connection. Right click on the connection that you use to connect to the internet. And goto properties.
    Now on the General tab click on the Install button.
    Click Protocol and then the Add button.
    When brings up the window to select the Protocol click the Have Disk button. Now it will the Install From Disk window.
    Type in "C:\Windows\INF" and click OK.
    Now click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and then click the OK button.
    When that windows disappears you should be back to the Network Connection Properties window.
    Click the Close button.
    Now Restart the System.
    When restarted back to the desktop goto Start > Run and type in "netsh int ip reset log.txt" and now click on OK.
    A black command prompt window will flash and go away.
    Connect to the Internet and it should be fine.
